1. Overview

This website is operated by Duolingo English Test. Throughout the site, the terms "we", "us" and "our" refer to Duolingo English Test. Duolingo English Test offers this mini-app, including all information, tools and services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here.

By visiting our site and/or using this service, you engage in our "Service" and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. These Terms of Service apply to all users of the site.

2. The Services

The Duolingo English Test mini-app provides the following services:

  • Information about the Duolingo English Test (DET)
  • Test preparation resources and practice materials
  • Test voucher distribution and redemption
  • Score syncing via Duolingo Partner API
  • Verifiable Credential (VC) issuance for verified test scores
  • Institution requirements lookup

By agreeing to these Terms of Service, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction.

3. Duolingo Partnership

Duolingo English Test is a member of the Duolingo Global Partner Network. This partnership allows us to:

  • Provide official DET preparation resources
  • Distribute voucher codes for discounted tests
  • Verify test results via Duolingo Partner API
  • Issue Verifiable Credentials of verified scores

"Duolingo" and "Duolingo English Test" are trademarks of Duolingo, Inc. Our partnership does not imply endorsement of this service by Duolingo.

4. User Account and Authentication

This service uses Open Campus ID (OCID) for authentication. By using our service, you agree to:

  • Maintain the security of your OCID credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Provide accurate information when syncing your test results
  • Not share test vouchers in unauthorized ways

5. Test Score Syncing

When you connect your Duolingo account to sync test scores:

  • We access your test results via Duolingo's official Partner API
  • Your scores are verified directly from Duolingo's systems
  • We store your scores securely linked to your OCID
  • You authorize us to retrieve and store this information

We are not responsible for any inaccuracies in scores provided by Duolingo's systems.

6. Verifiable Credentials

After score verification, you may request a Verifiable Credential for your DET score. These credentials:

  • Are issued using Open Campus infrastructure
  • Contain your verified test score and subscores
  • Are linked to your OCID wallet address
  • Are stored permanently on blockchain
  • Cannot be altered once issued

7. Test Vouchers

Test vouchers provided through this service:

  • Are subject to Duolingo's voucher terms and conditions
  • May have expiration dates or usage restrictions
  • Are non-transferable unless otherwise stated
  • May be limited in quantity

8. Prohibited Uses

You are prohibited from:

  • Misrepresenting test scores or credentials
  • Sharing or reselling vouchers without authorization
  • Attempting to manipulate score verification
  • Using automated tools to access the service
  • Violating Duolingo's terms of service

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to test preparation materials or voucher availability.

10. Limitation of Liability

Duolingo English Test is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this service, including but not limited to test performance or university admissions decisions.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
